"The Nap"

So, I just read this article about Tilda Swinton sleeping in a box at the MoMA last weekend for "art".

Would you believe I put on the EXACT SAME show on Saturday?  Her piece was called "The Maybe."  Mine was called "The Nap."  It happened at 2:00 in my bedroom.

(Sorry if you missed it.  However, repeat performances are likely.)

Summer Vacation at the Institution

So, there was one thing that I didn't think about when Scott went back to work...

SUMMER. VACATION.

Yeah, I guess I need to arrange for somebody to watch my kids, huh?  These are the things you don't think about when you're married to a stay-at-home-dad.

Anyhoo, I jumped on it right away (meaning Friday of last week) and scoped out some places (meaning I did a google search) and researched nannies (meaning I brought up the topic of nannies while out to lunch) and set up interviews (meaning I told Scott to call some places to see if they had any openings).  It was a lot of strenuous, much thought out, carefully undertaken work.

And, after all that due diligence, I've finally settled on a place for my beloved little snowflakes.  They're going to a daycare place up the road.  We stopped by today to drop off the deposit check and my kids seemed a little terrified.

But whatevs!  It will be good for them, right?  They'll make some new buddies, get to go on a bunch of field trips, and did I mention they had an air hockey table?  Holla!  I want to go to daycare.

Truth be told, I feel kinda guilty sending them to a facility for the summer.  God, it sounds like I'm institutionalizing them.   I can just see myself summer mornings - "Are you ready to go....to the facility? Mwah ha ha ha ha!"  I want them to be running around the neighborhood wearing jellie shoes like little kids from 1985.  But, what can you do - it's not 1985 anymore.  Which, side note, is probably a good thing - jellie shoes hurt.  Also, they probably wouldn't look good on the boys.

"Ouch!"

Despite the terrified looks on the kids' faces today, they assured me they are super excited.  I'm pretty sure it's because they saw one kid playing with an iPad.  You can't run around the neighborhood with one of those, now can you.

I Need a Hobby Besides Watching Reality TV

SO.  Does anyone watch Kim and Kourney Take Miami??  I watch it....occasionally.  Okay, like every week.  Although don't tell me what happened on this week's, I have to catch it later once the children are in bed and Scott is off doing who knows what in the garage and/or basement.

BUT...last week's episode.  What the wha!?  I was getting my hair done last week and my hairdresser gave me a heads up that it was a doozy of an episode, but I was still unprepared for the craziness of the Kardashians.  To recap - Kim and Kourtney were competing about everything, like who was the better suitcase packer, and who was the fastest runner, etc.  And THEN - they decided to have a contest about which of their hoo ha's SMELLED better.  Sister Khloe acted as judge.  (Kim won.  Of course.)

OH MY GOD.

Yes, that really happened on TV.  Speaking of hoo-ha's, that reminds me of a story from when I was pregnant with the twins.  It was a really rough pregnancy what with the TTTS and all, so I had to see a perinatologist.  He was great - I loved him.  But he was insanely busy and it was not uncommon to have to wait for 1.5+ hours in the waiting room before finally getting to see him for an appointment.  I remember one time I had been waiting for FOREVER.  When I finally got in I said "Hi, Dr. X, how's it going?"  And he replied, I SWEAR TO GOD, with "Good!  Sorry I'm so late, just dealing with a lot of hoo ha today."

I ABOUT DIED.  Perinatologist - lotta hoo-ha - LITERALLY death was imminent.  I'm pretty sure he was going for the more standard definition of "hoo ha", but we all know where my mind went.

And while I'm on this stream of consciousness tangent (which, hello, welcome back to blogging with a post about lady-parts!  Hi mom!), I have to tell another story about the HVAC man who came to our house this week to check on the furnace.  He gave it a once over, and then came up to show me a part that needed replacing.  Since I am very suspicious, I gave it a once-over and asked him how much it would cost.  It was only eight bucks, so I said go for it.  He said "That's good, you really need this part to keep your motor boatin'.  UH, I mean motor blowing!"

Heh heh heh.  Motor boatin'.  On the pontoon!  Good times.

Anyway, that's all for today.  Tune in tomorrow for more stream of consciousness thoughts, like how Girl Scout cookies are manna from the devil!!  Curse my neighbor's daughter and her talent for upselling!!!

OMG, I'm back again...

WOW, it's been a long time since I last posted.  I'm not even sure I remember how to use Blogger.

Anyhoo, A LOT has happened since the last time I posted.  Let's do this bullet-style, shall we?
  • Went to Hawaii with Scott for our 10th Anniversary.  Discovered the most incredible drink known to man - the Lava Flow.  Google it.  You're welcome.
  • Scott graduated from school and went back to work full-time.
  • Aidan got glasses.
  • I reduced my work schedule so I can drop the kids off and pick them up from school every day.  Boo-yah!
  • I've been working my arse off trying to manage both work and home life and feel like I have ZERO free time.
  • Ashley started first grade and the boys started kindergarten (*sob*).

Hmmm.  I can't think of anything else.  Maybe THAT's why I haven't been writing - life is too boring.

But I'm gonna try to pick this thing back up again.  I feel like the kids are growing and growing and I'm not documenting ANYTHING and this whole phase of my life is gonna be a big old blur.  So, I'm gonna rally.  Rally time!

Look how big they are!  And trust me, they've only gotten louder and crazier!
