Sensor E. Overload

We finally had the boys' birthday party this weekend.  Yes, their birthday was back in February, and, ahem, it is now May. But, we got a little sidetracked, what with the broken elbow and the trips out of town and Easter and soccer and all that jazz.  I think we've had to reschedule it at least three times.    Better late than never, right?  Except I did realize that an unfortunate side effect of the delayed birthday party is that the boys now think they have a birthday every three months.  Oh well, what can you do.

We went to Chuck E. Cheese!  I'd never been there before, and oof, now I know why.

Lordy, it was loud!   So many lights!  So many noises!  So many people!  So many tokens!  For God's sake, WHY did they give us so many tokens!?!?!?  We were there for 3.5 hours, people.  That is way too long to be at a Chuck E. Cheese.

The boys had a fantastic time, although they were a little traumatized by the birthday show part of it.  They had to jump up and do the hand jive and get crowned by a giant stuffed Chucky.  Then they had to go in this ticket collector booth where they were supposed to grab as many tickets as they could in 60 seconds.

Owen was all over this part of it, but Aidan was a little terrifed.

Owen, grabbing tickets.

Aidan, wondering what the hell his mom has gotten him into.

Aidan also told me a little too late that he was scared of Chucky.  Me too, buddy, me too.  But they did like the cake and ice cream part.  And playing the games.  Well, more like the tickets that came from the games.  The boys are ticket junkies.

After we'd (finally) used up all our tokens and eaten pizza and cake and ice cream and opened presents and picked out prizes, we got ready to head out.

My mom bought them faux dream lights for their present, which they'd seen on an "As Seen on TV" commercial and have been clamoring for ever since.  They loooooooved them!  We're redoing their room right now, so they slept in bed with me last night and it looked like a disco all night long what with the lights all over the ceiling.  Well, for 45 minutes anyway, until the automatic shut-off kicked in.

Speaking of their room, I'm so excited for it.  We're doing a space theme and bought them...bunk beds!  Holy cannoli.  Owen of the broken elbow fame is sleeping on the bottom bunk.  ;-)

Chuck E. Cheese is just a huge kiddie casino. But, wow, my kids love it.

Bunk beds are awesome. Especially when you have boys that dare each other to jump off them.
