Estes Park in (more) Pictures

Too tired to write anything today, so I'm participating in Silent Sunday.  (Is that even a thing?  If not, it is now.)

Crafty Kid Time: Tissue Paper Wreaths

Ashley and I did a fun craft the other day that I thought I'd share with you all.  We made tissue paper wreaths and I think they turned out dang cute!

First, I cut up millions of squares of tissue paper.  Well, maybe not millions.  But it sure seemed like a lot.

Photobucket

Then, I took an ordinary paper plate and cut it like this...

Photobucket

So, when I opened it up it would look like this.

Photobucket

I know you are all super impressed right now.

Then Ashley and I got to gluing.  We wrapped tissue paper around the end of a pencil...

Photobucket

Dipped it in glue...

Photobucket

And stuck it on the plate.

Photobucket

Lather, rinse, repeat, gluing the tissues as close together as you can.

Photobucket

By the time we were done, this is what Ashley's wreath looked like:

Photobucket

And this was mine.

Photobucket

We then hung them up in her bedroom window. Aren't they so pretty?

Photobucket

Ashley had so much fun making these, that she woke up the next morning and made another one! And Aidan and Owen joined in too. We are swimming in wreaths over here, people. Maybe I should sell them online.

Family Vacation

Just got back from a mini-family vacay to Estes Park, CO. Still feeling my Rocky Mountain High. Sigh...what I wouldn't give to live there.

Here are a few instagram shots I took along the way. Speaking of which, follow me on instagram! It's my new favorite addiction. My user name is...you guessed it...twinsomnia. It's like twitter for photos - except I actually use this type of twitter. Find me and I'll follow you back.

Anyways, back to pics:

On the drive up...so pretty.

Anyways, more to come later.  Just wanted to drop these off before I collapse.  10 hours in the car with 3 small children is kind of tiring, just so you know.

Ear Today, Grown Up Tomorrow

Ashley got her ears pierced last weekend.  Does this mean she is officially grown up???  (Word to the Wise:  She said it HURT.  A LOT.)

Uploaded from the Photobucket iPhone App

(And another word to the wise:  Getting your ears pierced is EXPENSIVE.  It cost us $54 at Claire's!!!  Claire's, I tell you!!!!!  Craziness.  If I'd known that, I would have done it myself with an ice cube and a needle like back in the day.)

After the piercing we went to Paradise Bakery and got a cookie and some frozen lemonade.  It was good stuff.  Or so she said...I had a cafe mocha.

I can't believe my little girl has her ears pierced!  By the way, she also asked me for a Justin Bieber poster the other day.  I said no way.  I draw the line at Bieber!  Body mutilation - Fine!  Bieber - NO!

Although I do like that new song of his.

Daughter Date

Ashley and I went out to dinner, just the two of us, on Saturday night.  She wanted to go someplace "fancy," which she defined as "some place where they have candles on the table."  She picked out my dress and my shoes because apparently I can't be trusted to look "fancy."

Half-way to the restaurant I'd picked out based on table-candle availability, she yelled from the backseat "Mommy, WAIT!!!!  I REALLY want to go to the Cheesecake Factory!!!"

So I said, "Works for me", pulled a U-ie and off we went.

Photobucket

As we parked, Ashley said "OOH, Mommy!  I REALLY want to eat outside."  I said "Baby girl, we're taking the first table they give us."  There were tons of people milling around outside and I thought for sure we were going to have to wait an hour or more to get seated.

But when we walked in, the hostess said "I have a table available right now if you don't mind sitting outside."

Ashley leads such a charmed life, doesn't she?
Photobucket

She insisted on sitting next to me at the table instead of across from me.  Somebody remind me how much she loved me 10 years from now when she's embarrassed to be seen with me at the mall.

Photobucket

She had a cheeseburger and I had chicken piccata.  It was delish, of course.  I probably gained 20 pounds just by looking at my meal, but bygones.

Of course, we also had to share a dessert.  Chocolate and more chocolate!

Photobucket

Can't go wrong with that.

Anyways, we had a great time.  It's so nice to get away and have a little one-on-one time with your kid.

Photobucket

And you know, if I have to go eat at the Cheesecake Factory two more times times to make sure all my kids get that important one-on-one time, I'm willing to make that sacrifice.  I know, I know.  I'm a saint.

Country Time

Scotty and I went out on a DATE last night.  I know!  A mid-week date!  It's so scandalous.

First, we went and had dinner at this restaurant called Charleston's.  I got this amazing salad - fried chicken and avocado and tomatoes and bacon and hard boiled eggs with a champagne vinaigrette dressing.  (Sidenote:  Thank God for spellcheck.  You should see how I butchered my first attempt at spelling "vinaigrette" up there.  Actually, it's good you can't see, because you might try to take my law degree away.)

I also had a glass of wine that was BIGGER THAN MY FACE.  Seriously - I made Scott take a picture.  It was that big.  Excuse my expression...I was trying to look sophisticated and had a massive face failure.

Photobucket

After dinner we went to the Miranda Lambert concert.  She is on Scotty's "list", if you know what I mean, so I tried not to be jealous.  But I shouldn't have worried, because by the end of the night she was on MY list!  She is so bad-ass.  Love her.

Photobucket

I danced and sang and Wooo!'d my little heart out.  She didn't sing "Me and Charlie Talking", but all my other faves were in there..."Heart Like Mine," "Only Prettier," "Dead Flowers" - ack!  I loved it.  I had so much fun.

Today I am extremely tired.  TGIF.
