Bid for a Cure. And Also a Xanax.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation fundraiser I mentioned a couple weeks ago was on Thursday night. It went AWESOME! The whole event raised $225,000+ for Cystic Fibrosis research.

They WILL find a cure soon. I just know it.

Scotty caught my speech on camera so I'm sharing it here on the blog. I was SO FLIPPING NERVOUS.

I spoke right before the "Bid for a Cure" portion of the event. When I was done, they called out different dollar amounts and people raised their auction numbers if they wanted to give something. When it got to $100, the place just went crazy. It was so cool.

After I spoke, it was time for the keynote speaker to speak - Danny Woodhead from the Patriots. He briefly mentioned the video I'd made for Ellie in the intro to his speech (something along the lines of "...thank you for having me and for the video we just saw..."), so now I feel like he and Tom and Gisele and I are all best friends. Maybe we will hang out next weekend? Who knows.

Anyway, I think it went really well. But Good Lord, am I glad it is over. I think I gained 12 pounds from all the chocolate I ate this week from stressing out over it. But I'd do it again in a heartbeat if it meant raising more money for Miss Ellie.

And just in case you didn't see the video when I posted it a couple of weeks ago, here is the video of Ellie in its entirety that was shown on Thursday night. Feel free to pass it on...the more people who see it, the closer we can get to a cure.

Thanks everyone for your support!

So glad to hear your speech went well, and that's an amazing sum to have raised...CONGRATULATIONS!!!

(And I think any nervous shakes work right through those chocolate calories!) :)

Great job! So thankful for your work and the work of so many people for the CF Foundation. We just found out that yet another one of our kiddos is a carrier. We need to work hard to find that cure!!
