Last night I asked Ashley if she wanted to take dance classes this fall. She told me she already knew how to dance.
Then she put on her flip flops and performed a tap dance recital in our hallway.
"See mommy? I told you I knew how to dance," she said breathlessly as she stutter stomped and clattered away.
Then she fell down.
"I'm okay!" she called without me even asking. Phew.
And then she was up again, tapping furiously. "Mommy, you have to cheer really loud, so I can hear you over my tapping," she helpfully instructed.
So I cheered.
"No, mommy," she sighed, exasperated. "You have to say 'Encore!'"
So I yelled encore! encore!
Which of course, made her dance more.
Then, she started naming her dance moves. "Mommy, I call this one the 'Turny Aroundy.'"
I would ooh and ahh.
Then she would fall down again.
And so on and so forth.
Finally she took a sweeping bow. I'm surprised she didn't make me throw roses at her.
So I think the answer to my question is yes, she would love to take dance classes. Now I just need to find a dance studio. God bless whoever I pick. They're gonna need it.
