So, last week, I mentioned to you all that I'd be starting a new feature on my blog...
Date Night Challenge!!!
This idea came about because Scott and I are constantly trying to come up with interesting ways to entertain ourselves whilst chained to our house due to the fact that we have too many children and not enough babysitters.
Not a good combination.
So, each week I will provide you with a recap of whatever date night we came up with for that week. My hope is that this feature will inspire some of you to plan and post about your own spectacular home date nights. Grab the button and leave a link to your post in the comments, if you're interested. (One day I will figure out this Mr. Linky thing. Maybe Scott and I should have an HTML date night next week.)
Anyhoo, this week's Date Night Challenge theme was........
A Night at the Bowling Alley
Now, some of you may be wondering how you can plan a night at the bowling alley when you're stuck in your family room while your three children slumber upstairs.
The answer, my friends, is simple: All it takes is a little creativity. And technology. And a healthy dose of desperation. If you've got those three elements, you can't go wrong!
We started out the night as we would at any bowling establishment. Drinking beer.
We then chose our musical soundtrack for the evening.
Stone Temple Pilots. Total bowling alley music, no? Or at least it was the last time I was in a bowling alley, circa 1994.
Anyhoo, now on to the most important part of any date night. The food.
We chose our selection carefully. What would we want to eat if we were sitting at a bowling alley waiting for a lane to open???
Oh yeah. Loaded nachos.
Here, I'll give you the recipe for them:
Megan's Loaded Nachos
Ground beef, cooked with Taco Seasoning
Black Olives (optional)
Directions:Put it all on your plate and eat it.
Simple, no? So after beer and nacho's were consumed, and a little Wicked Garden was sung, it was time to get down to business.
I even put on my bowling shoes for the occasion. Yes, I own bowling shoes. No, I've never worn them before. But you never know when you might need a good pair of bowling shoes, so when I bought them 10 years ago it seemed like money well spent.
And, oooh was it. Look at those cool moves!
Unfortunately, I lost the first game.
Whatev. I might have pouted a little.
Scott might have gloated. In his super rad bowling shirt.
But it's all good. On to the next game!
Well, crap. Now I'm getting pissed.
What the heck kind of date is this!? Isn't he supposed to let me win or something?
Whatever. I'm sure I'll win the next one.
Especially since now he's just getting obnoxious.
It was a close one, but at the end of the day there can be only one winner.
And it wasn't me. Dammit! He's a cheater!
And a big arrogant meanie!
But he's cute, so he still got some. What can I say...I'm an easy date.
And now for next week's Date Night Challenge theme....
(I know you are all on the edge of your seats)
