Deep Thoughts on I-29

Every now and then I have to trek down to Kansas City for the day due to various work-related matters. Because KC is quite a drive away, I have to leave the comfort of my bed at an ungodly hour in the morning in order to get there on time.

Unfortunately, I am not what you would call a "morning-person." Or a "person who is polite prior to 8:00 a.m." Instead, I am the person that you don't invite to Saturday morning breakfast because the last time you did I was kind of scary. At least that's what my college roommates used to tell me.

Point taken.

Nevertheless, I enjoy my early morning road trips due to the following:

(1) I always purchase an iced mocha from McDonald's to start my day the caffeinated way. Good lord, are those tasty or what??? I don't even care that they make my hands all shaky and give me a mini-headache, that's how good they are.

(2) There is a little radio station in tiny St. Joseph, MO that is jam-packed full of pop goodness. I swear it has the best playlist around. Yesterday it played Sober and Shimmer and Soul to Squeeze and I thought I was going to have laryngitis by the time the 45 minutes of clear reception had passed.

(3) I'm a sucker for a beautiful sunrise...why are they always so much better than sunsets?

It must be something about new possibilities, new beginnings...

Considering that I rarely get to see them, I'm always thrilled to catch a sunrise however unwillingly it might have come about. Don't get me wrong - I'm not about to start snapping pics of sunrises when I'm not driving down I-29. Which I guess is kind of obvious since this blog is called "twinsomnia" rather than "twinmornia" or the equivalent. Not that twinmornia makes any sense, but there I go getting sidetracked again.

But still, when I catch a sunrise I just know that it's going to be a good day. Either that or caffeine just makes me really optimistic.
